I hear you. It's hard to dive into a game when you know its going to take 100+ hours to complete it. At my current rate, that'd be ~ 6 months. MP games seem like less of a time commitment (until you see how many hours you spent playing them, which will probably match a big SP game)

I've had the series on my Kindle Fire for a couple of years now, but still haven't played it. Had to get it due to nostalgia (was originally a more advanced version of "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, made by Steve Jackson).
Apples to Apples is essentially a clean version of Cards Against Humanity (more like Cards Against Humanity is a deranged version Apples to Apples)

I'm slowly working through Shadows over Mordor. My proffered method of taking out someone is by flipping over them, then doing the wraith attack combo (the one which ends with the head blowing up). It helps if you research the captains too. One-shoting a boss is always fun to me.
I have a low-end gaming laptop (oddly enough, the main thing I play on it is Icewind Dale. Not like I need the extra graphics for that!). I no longer have space for a desktop rig (the computer room is now a sewing room, for me!). Also, a laptop lets me be in the living room with the dog, who isn't allowed in the sewing room.
A small part of me misses having a gaming rig, but I mainly use my consoles for big-ticket gaming. Not sure I'm willing to spend the time or money to keep a gaming rig up to date.

Finally finished Far Cry 3 last night (I still have the star challenges, but meh). trying to figure out what to play next. I'm swapping between my PS3 and PS4 until I get more caught up on the Ps3 backlog. The only issue is I tihnk what I have on the PS4 (Withcer 3, Mad Max) are both open world games, and I need a break form the genre.
I have a PSP, and was tempted by the Vita. i never pulled the trigger due to the touch screen on the back. I had to hold the Vita in an odd way, which caused hand cramping pretty quickly.
I agree about playing action games on a phone sucks! So muh of the real-estate gets taken up by the controls (and more importantly, my hands).

On to the very last boss battle in Icewind Dale. I've been playing this game off and on for years. So far, the boss is stomping me readily. Not sure what I can do about it (for one thing, it automatically casts dispel magic at the start of the encounter, and there's dispel magic traps all over the room. Buffs go bye-bye)
I just finished Icewind Dale, without having to drop difficulty. It helped dying a couple of times do I could figure out tricks (like having the thief immediately detect traps). This way I could keep my characters buffed.
The other big thing was remembering I had some portions of absorption +10 AC vs crushing FTW!

Psahh, try playing a pirated copy of ultima 2. I think this is what taught me troubleshooting.
I finally started playing Witcher 3, and I'm really liking it. The setting is bleak, but I like that the game isn't sugarcoating things. The combat system is growing on me. I like that I need to dodge/parry even if I'm stronger than the opponent.
Yep Marvel Heros is dead, although I see adds on the TV for some other sort of Marvel game online.
I miss Marvel Heros. For a free to play game they had a lot of content, and i have a big weakness for the Diablo sort of gameplay (kill things, bet slightly better stuff so you can kill tougher things. Repeat Add-nauseum)

IWD isn't nearly as story-focused. You make a party of characters, instead of having 1 character and x# of NPCs. It's grindy though (I finished the mian game of IWD, and am stuck in one of the DLCs. I should go back to it).
I'm really not a fan of the D&D novels. The Drizzt series was ruined for me by reading the Elric Saga before hand.
