Forza Horizon 6

I'm hoping for it to NOT be Hot Wheels or Lego. They've already doubled up on both of those, going triple on either (or worse, both) would be really way too conservative.

Drifting is getting a really bad rap here in this thread... But I'd WAAAY prefer something expanding and adding some meat to those bones. There's a lot of room there for depth beyond their current approach of scoring by making lots of smoke. Of course, that might have been something more for a Motorsport than Horizon. But honestly, I'd prefer pretty much anything over rehashing Lego or Hot Wheels again. Both of those are franchises that have been done to death even more than Forza Horizon, which is saying something.

Speaking of drifting, though... I joined the Online Drift lobby to get the Countach. And stayed longer than I needed to for the humor. It was a full lobby, and honestly, I had a blast. There were usually 1-3 drivers that really knew what they were doing. Another 2-4 that are like me and at least brought a drift tune and can link a few chains, but also occasionally end up facing the entirely wrong direction somewhere... And then the rest were pure agents of chaos. Monster truck Vipers, stock Hellcats, a drift limo, giant track cuts, missing checkpoints, jumps, barrel rolls, etc. Total circus. Will join again. Probably mostly to get another car next time it comes up in the rotation. But maybe also some other times just for the laughs.

On the topic of expansions, I opted to not get the premium edition of FH6 because the 120 euro price tag was crazy high and the only real value to it for me would be the expansions. However, I found the Hot Wheels expansions from 3 & 5 too goofy to be fun for more than once through. The Lego one from FH4 was fine, but not amazing. So I am really anticipating only getting which ever of the two expansions just adds a new non-toy-themed map, as I really enjoyed Blizzard Mountain, Fortune Island, and Rally Adventure. And I hope that price tag keeps my total spent on this game way below that 120 euros.

I also saw Lego released some FH6 branded sets, which makes me think it is somewhat likely they might do another Lego expansion.

The devs seem to release one novelty-type DLC expansion and one more realistic type DLC for each edition of Horizon.

I hope for the latter one they release a DLC focusing on rally type races with events on gravel / dirt that actually are on those kinds of roads instead of the current "dirt" events that are often mostly on tarmac. Something more like FH5's Rally Adventure DLC (but of course without the annoying helicopters).

For a novelty-type DLC expansion, what about something based on Speed Racer? From what little I know of it, seems kinda Hot-Wheel-ish but has Japanese roots and is even more fantastical.

Neither have I, got two stars but still a fair amount of time needed for three stars.

So in races the organizers block off side roads with those green temporary boards. But the problem is that the 1000-pt bonus boards are also green so when I'm running a race I have an ingrained instinct to swerve over and bash the race boards. Tough habit to break.

So, apparently the Trailblazer doesnt follow the normal cross country pattern, the idea is that you take a top speed car and get to the highway asap and follow that into Tokio, the traffic will all be ghosted so you dont need to worry about your speed and crashes. This was a comment from a dev, btw.

Yeah this is me as well. I bought the Lego and Hot Wheels ones when they were on big sale and I don't think I played more than an hour of each, I just had no interest in either of them. I loved FH5's rally one and my only complaint is that it was too short (also yeah, could do without the helicopter).

That is a pretty dumb oversight by the devs. "Do not overrule the player's choice". Is it not possible to toggle it again just as the race is getting underway, or do you have to be stopped?

One early foggy morning I was out roaming through farmers' fields picking up untraveled roads and spotted a couple of cranes.

Cool touch. If you approached they would fly a short distance and hop around. Maybe I could sneak up on them in an EV but a GT350 ain't gonna cut it.

I'm sitting right in between you two with 669 roads discovered. That stat is likely to remain as is until FH7 is released.

This season's Shibuya Crossing speed trap is a pain. Managed a run just 3 mph too slow, but all the traffic makes any attempt at a clean run hit or miss. Usually a hit. Grrrr... We need a F&F flip car.

I keep on forgetting to do the seasonal rival. Must do that next.

I hit 671 last weekend-- the last one I was missing was a little sliver of one of the underpasses below the highway loop, effectively invisible except at the highest zoom level of the map.

There's also a web-based tool out there somewhere that you can upload map screenshots to and it'll highlight anything still in gray-- I'll see if I can find it again.

BTW, if anyone is interested in trying Spec Racing, this is the time to do it. Most people are trying to avoid contact so they get 3 Ultimate Clean Racing skills in order to receive the Saleen S7 reward. Better behaviour is noticeable.

If you're still having problems getting clean racing, blow off the race -- let everyone pass you early, then do clean driving all on your own. Since you often enter in the middle of the currently underway series you can afford to do that since you're not going to be in contention for the overall win anyway.

Hah, excellent point!

I've tried to enter spec racing a few times but apparently couldnt find a race to join where as I rarely have to wait long for Horizon Racing.

Joining a spec racing series doesn't take too long at the moment, I suspect because lots of players are trying for that Saleen reward car.

Your starting position on the grid is random but for one race with NSX-R's I had the good fortune to be placed on pole. Led it from start to finish. That's another way of getting your "Ultimate Clean Racing" skill pop-ups. ;)

You were right, it didnt take long to get in at all now and of course, just my luck, I got a Spec race with the Koenigsegg CCGT so I basically waited a few seconds at the start line then leisurely made my way down the road and got the Saleen.

Got the Speed zone first try with a tuned NSX-R because I got lucky with the traffic, the time trial also on the first attempt with seconds to spare and I combined the cross country race with the RAM TRX objectives :D

So that leaves only one thing on the Festival calender....the dreaded drift zone. I gave it a try with an untuned Sylvia K Aero, got to about 72.000 so I imagine it shouldnt be too hard to get the 80.000 when I feel like doing it.

I was coming back from someplace up north and going to the Legend Island circuit. Instead of using fast travel I decided to let Anna do the driving. Used her auto-drive while I sat back and admired the scenery. Kinda cool.

Anyway, to get back to your dreaded drifting, at one point Anna drove through a drift zone and I thought how useful it would be to have an "Auto-Drift" mode too. :)

I hate the drifting stuff the worst. I think I have 3 more drift zones to do still. Not 3 star, just do. I dont think I will ever be able to 3 star some of these, no matter which car and how it's tuned.
In FH5 I had endless problems trying to drift until I hit just the right car. Then I could 3-star drift zones relatively easily. I'm hoping I'll come across something similar in FH6, because at the moment I suck. Big time.

Interesting how it goes.

For FH4 drifting was really hard because you weren't allowed to put a single wheel off the road. They tweaked things in FH5 to allow you to keep drifting as long as most of the car was on the road, but maybe they decided it was a little too easy.

I 3-starred all of FH5, while I was unable to 3-star over half of the FH4 drift zones as a result.
I only managed to 3-star a bunch of FH4 drift zones after finding a car+tune, as @Klinn suggested. Same with FH3 iirc.

I will try FH6 when I have time, which isn't possible for now.

Currently in FH6 you can be 100% off the road by a lot and for a long time and have those drift points keep going up, it is quite broken TBH

I am nearing completion of the Horizon Festival portion of the game. The Gauntlet dirt race was a lot of fun, much better than the one from 4 or 5 in my opinion.

Next up street races and clearing all the roads.

Yes, I noticed its very lenient now on drift zones, I slid off the road twice completely and it still allowed me to continue.
